Mistaken!
A Character Unraveled to Break the Curse
At dawn, a wife and her mother-in-law quarrel until a thunderclap freezes time. Wenchang Dijun, the God of Literature, appears with his young attendant to mend their long-held grudges.
He leads them to the moment when poet Lu You is about to write “Phoenix Hairpin”, heartbroken after being forced to part from Tang Wan. Wenchang explains how family pressure and misunderstanding ruined their marriage.
To change fate, he sends Tang Wan back to the start of the conflict. Through a playful “character-splitting” explanation of poetry, she softens the mother-in-law’s rigid views and reveals her true feelings.
In the end, harmony returns to the family, symbolized by the young attendant left in their care—reminding everyone that breaking old prejudices can rebuild peace.
