If culture represents the spirit of a nation or society, then cultural institutions like museums and galleries reflect its cultural maturity. Cultural industries are essential for continued economic growth.
Under an ROT model, the National Center for Traditional Arts has entrusted the Sunmake Cultures Foundation to operate the park. To move people with tradition, we must meet the needs of modern life—expressing culture through creativity, inspiring emotional connections, and creating a welcoming environment where people are eager to engage and learn. We aim to provide a space and stage for local artists and traditional artisans to realize their dreams.
Building such a dream-worthy cultural venue requires dedicated management and a professional team with experience. With sincerity, thoughtful planning, and deep respect for the land and its traditions, we are committed to preserving and promoting traditional arts and creating a landscape rich in cultural emotion. PX Mart founded the non-profit Sunmake Cultures Foundation in November 2015 to operate Yilan Park of the NCFTA.
We deeply understand that Taiwan’s traditional arts
are a treasured essence of everyday life.
The Sunmake Cultures Foundation will focus on four core operational goals: serving as a “Talent Incubation Hub for Traditional Arts,” a “Cross-Disciplinary Exchange Platform,” a “Cultural Industry Practice Ground,” and a “Creative Export Gateway,” working together to forge a renewed vision for the NCFTA.
We believe that Taiwan’s traditional arts are treasured expressions of everyday life—deeply rooted in the people and passed down through generations. At the heart of these traditions lies their truest value: people. Therefore, in managing the Center for Traditional Arts, we place special emphasis on the value of people. By connecting outstanding groups and talents across Taiwan who embody the spirit of kindness, beauty, and traditional values, we are creating a dynamic and expansive new type of cultural complex, where performing artists, artisans, and creative professionals collaborate and exchange across disciplines, fostering a rich cultural soil for dissemination, preservation, and sustainability. This also expands the global reach of Taiwan’s traditional arts and culture, planting roots through the fusion of heritage and innovation, and using cultural services to extend our impact far and wide. We also aim to link and nurture a new generation of traditional arts practitioners in Taiwan. At the same time, through diverse hands-on craft experiences and vibrant performances, we empower everyone to become seeds of traditional art and carriers of kindness and beauty.
